Wrexham’s Member of the Senedd, Lesley Griffiths is urging local businesses to check whether they’re entitled to the latest crucial Welsh Government support.
Last week the Welsh Government launched Phase 3 of its Economic Resilience Fund (ERF), with an additional £140 million being made available to help businesses deal with the economic challenges of Covid-19.
An eligibility checker for companies to find out if they can access funding is now available on the Business Wales website, ahead of the full application process opening week commencing 26 October.
Up to £80m will be in the form of Busines Development Grants. The focus has shifted slightly and rather than merely surviving the pandemic, this element of the funding will be provided to businesses that can demonstrate they can thrive in a future post-Covid world. It is designed to support businesses with projects that can help them transition to the new normal.
The Welsh Government also announced £20m of this budget will be allocated to supporting tourism and hospitality businesses facing constraints and challenges in the winter months. More details are expected in the coming days.
Wrexham businesses may also be entitled to a share of the remaining £60m as this is being used to support companies in areas affected by local lockdown restrictions.
Lesley Griffiths MS said: “The Economic Resilience Fund is unique to Wales and has already provided critical support to hundreds of Wrexham businesses, helping protect the livelihoods of many local residents.”
“To date, the ERF has delivered almost £300 million of support to more than 13,000 companies in Wales.”
“With the next phase due to open imminently, any local business that believes they might be eligible for support should visit the Business Wales website as soon as possible.”
Companies that received grant funding through phases one and two of the ERF, or Non-Domestic Rates linked support, could also be eligible for phase three of the ERF.
