Free football equipment donated to local school

Students at a Wrexham primary school are celebrating after securing some new football equipment from the local Member of the Senedd.

Wrexham MS Lesley Griffiths recently visited Rhosddu Primary School to donate a box full of footballs, bibs, cones and hurdles to the after school club.

Ms Griffiths received the equipment after sponsoring a special event at the Senedd celebrating the McDonald’s Fun Football Programme, which has now been operating for over 20 years.

Working alongside the Welsh FA, the sessions offer every child, no matter their background, gender or ability, the opportunity to enjoy football – for free.

Lesley Griffiths MS said: “Supporting grassroots football is so important and I hope the excitement surrounding Wrexham AFC’s meteoric rise through the Football League is inspiring even more local youngsters to venture outdoors to play the beautiful game.

“It was a pleasure to visit Rhosddu School and to meet some of the children in the after school club. I’m so pleased they were clearly looking forward to testing out their new equipment!”
