Take control of your healthcare with improved NHS Wales App

Wrexham’s Member of the Senedd, Lesley Griffiths has welcomed advancements in the NHS Wales App, which mean constituents can track waitlist positions and easily manage their healthcare admin.

The latest update to the bilingual app enables users who have been added to a hospital waiting list to see their status, find out when they were referred for hospital care and access helpful information about how to stay healthy and prepare for upcoming treatments.

The app also allows people to order repeat prescriptions, check their organ donation choices and get trusted advice on their health and wellbeing.

Secure messages to a GP surgery can be sent through the app, with users able to verify their identity using the Welsh Identity Verification service.

These improvement come as the latest waiting list figures show the biggest monthly reduction on record in November, which was the sixth consecutive month to see the waiting list cut.

Lesley Griffiths MS said: “The latest updates to the NHS Wales App will help people navigate the healthcare system more easily, providing patients a single platform to access all their medical information, as well as being able to interact with their GP surgery.

“I’m really pleased that we are increasing transparency and providing peace of mind to patients, with people now being able to view their position on waitlists.

“There are plans to improve the app even further, with a function to access test results under development, and I would encourage constituents in Wrexham to sign up to the app.”

Since the NHS Wales App was launched in April 2023, more than one in five adults in Wales have signed up.  There have been more than 3 million repeat prescription orders to date.
